Accessibility Mavens
Empowering inclusivity in digital spaces through advocacy, education, and scalable accessibility practices.

Overview
I joined Asurion's first-ever cohort of the Accessibility Mavens — a new initiative with no structure or official direction at the time. I joined out of passion for accessibility, stemming from my past roles and personal commitment to inclusive design. The program consisted of us working towards Deque's "Deep Dive into Web Accessibility for Developers" course. After completion of this course me and one other Maven decided we would lead the new cohort and build up the program as well as bring awarness across the company.

Accomplishments
I completed Deque's "Deep Dive into Web Accessibility for Developers" certification, which laid a technical foundation for my work. Throughout the program, I led and co-hosted workshops across internal guilds, Asurion Academy, and company-wide accessibility events. I educated peers on how to audit interfaces and use accessibility tools like Axe, Lighthouse, and screen readers effectively.

Working closely with cross-functional teams—including branding, design systems, and engineering—I consulted on improvements and helped embed accessibility standards into our workflows. I created and standardized an audit template, developed a centralized internal resource hub, and authored documentation that scaled our efforts across teams. After graduation, I led the next Maven cohort by mentoring new participants, delivering structured lesson plans, and supporting their growth as advocates.
Mindset & Approach
I treated this as a service design challenge — designing empathetic, clear solutions that supported real teams. Rather than chasing compliance alone, we prioritized education and communication, helping teams understand why accessibility matters and how to embed it into daily workflows.
